Measuring Depth Perception for Stereoscopic Images Using a Phase-shift Model
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present an effective depth perception assessment index for stereoscopic images using a phase-shift model. To be more specific, we use Gabor filter to compute the responses of left and right images respectively, and proposed a phase-shift model for computing disparity maps based on phase gradient and phase difference information. Then, quality score for depth perception is obtained by measuring the similarity between the estimated disparities of the original and distorted stereoscopic images. Experimental results on two publicly 3D image quality assessment databases demonstrate that, in comparison with the most related existing methods, the devised algorithm achieves high consistency alignment with subjective assessment.

3D Visual Attention for Stereoscopic Image Quality Assessment
Depth perception is one of the most important characteristic in three-dimensional (3D) images different from traditional two-dimensional (2D) images. Therefore, 3D visual attention will be advantageous to improve 3D visual experience and particularly depth perception. In this paper, we propose a 3D visual attention model for stereoscopic image quality assessment task. The proposed model is cons...
متن کاملStereoscopic depth perception from oblique phase disparities q
In order to understand the role of oblique retinal image disparities in the perception of stereoscopic depth, we measured the depth perceived from random dot stereograms in which phase disparities were introduced in a selected band of stimulus orientations. A band of orientation was defined by a center orientation that ranged from 7.5 (near vertical) to 82.5 o[rientation]deg and by a bandwidth ...

متن کاملStereopsis and binocular rivalry are based on perceived rather than physical orientations
Binocular rivalry is an intriguing phenomenon: when different images are displayed to the two eyes, perception alternates between these two images. What determines whether two monocular images engage in fusion or in rivalry: the physical difference between these images or the difference between the percepts resulting from the images? We investigated that question by measuring the interocular di...
متن کاملStereoscopic Depth Perception during Binocular Rivalry
When we view nearby objects, we generate appreciably different retinal images in each eye. Despite this, the visual system can combine these different images to generate a unified view that is distinct from the perception generated from either eye alone (stereopsis). However, there are occasions when the images in the two eyes are too disparate to fuse. Instead, they alternate in perceptual dom...
